Many of the patients we talk with have plans to eventually do multiple procedures with us. Occasionally, depending on the desired results, it makes sense to combine these procedures and do them at the same time.
There are many benefits to undergoing cosmetic procedures at the same time, including:
One trip to the doctor — obviously, there will be multiple consultations, but the procedures themselves will be performed at the same time. This means you don’t have to make two separate trips to the office/hospital, and you don’t have to go through night-before anxiety more than once.
One recovery period — if you’re going to be taking time off work, you don’t have to take two separate vacations for the two procedures. If you don’t want others to know you’re having work done, combining the procedures also means a shorter time away from friends and family.
One time under anesthesia — modern anesthesia is very safe, but it’s obviously better to only have to go under once instead of twice.
One combined price — some of the costs of each procedure are unique to that surgery alone, but other costs such as the hospital room and anesthesia are standalone. There may be some savings involved in undergoing multiple procedures at the same time. More dramatic results — sometimes, it takes two procedures to achieve the desired look. Common combinations include:
- Liposuction and tummy tuck
- Liposuction and fat transfer
- Breast augmentation and breast lift
- Mommy makeover (liposuction and/or tummy tuck and/or breast work)
- Facelift and blepharoplasty
- Facelift and neck lift
Of course, there are also some reasons you may not want to do multiple procedures at the same time. For one, the recovery period may feel a bit rougher, because your body is recovering from multiple procedures. You also don’t have the benefit of being able to see what your body looks like after one procedure before you commit to the second. Consulting a board certified plastic surgeon is extremely valuable to you in making that decision.
