Not every woman facing a mastectomy may feel the need for breast reconstruction, but for many women it is an important part of their recovery. Breast reconstruction can dramatically improve a woman’s appearance, self-confidence and overall quality of life. There are many options available today for women who decide that reconstruction is right for them.
This 42-year-old female presented with right breast cancer. The patient underwent bilateral mastectomies with immediate tissue expansion breast reconstruction. Nipple and areola reconstruction was also performed. Although the breast reconstruction process required multiple procedures, the patient is happy with her decision and satisfied with the results.
