This patient had saline implants placed previously by another surgeon. She came to see Dr. Ghaderi after noticing a decrease in size in her left breast. Dr. Ghaderi confirmed that her left breast implant had deflated. In addition, the patient had bilateral capsular contracture.* The patient opted to proceed with bilateral implant replacement. She is 43 years old. The patient’s height is 5’5″. Before the procedure, the patient weighed 135lbs. With implants, the patient had a preoperative bra size of 32DD. 275 cc, round, smooth surfaced, saline implants were used, returning the patient to her previous bra size. The implants were placed under the chest muscle. The after photos for this patient were taken 6 weeks after surgery.

* Capsule contracture, the most common complication of breast augmentation surgery, can occur at any time following surgery. It occurs when naturally forming scar tissue around the implant shrinks and tightens, making the breast feel firmer than normal and sometimes causing pain and an unnatural appearance of the breast. Capsular contracture may occur on one side, both sides or not at all. The degree or severity of tightening may also be different on one side compared to the other. This complication is discussed in further detail during a consultation visit with Dr. Ghaderi.
