Plastic surgery procedures and recovery times have progressed so much these days that you can have any procedure at any time and still recover quickly. With that being said, certain times of the year naturally lend themselves to certain cosmetic procedures, and you may be able to optimize your recovery and your enjoyment if you time your procedure correctly.
Fall
After having fun all summer and now that swimsuit season is over, fall presents several benefits for undergoing cosmetic procedures. One is that the active summer lifestyle will usually cause many people to get in shape, so by the time fall comes around you’ll have a good idea of where you stand with your body weight, and whether you may need some extra help to get to your ideal weight and body shape. Fall is a great time to undergo liposuction, fat transfer, body sculpting, or breast enhancement, because the sweater weather will allow you to conceal the recovery better. As an added benefit, you’ll be looking great for the upcoming holiday season.
Winter
Using the same logic, winter is one of the best times to undergo a cosmetic procedure, since you’ll have many bulky layers to help mask your recovery. In addition, the holiday season may present you with time off that can allow you to recover in the comfort of your home instead of having to go back to work. Like fall, winter is a great time to undergo liposuction, fat transfer, body sculpting, or breast enhancement. In the colder months, it’s also easier to conceal the recovery from facial surgery such as a facelift or rhinoplasty by wearing hats and scarves, or heavier makeup.
Spring
Spring means that everyone is shedding their winter weight and getting in shape for swimsuit season. It’s a great time for body sculpting, liposuction, breast augmentation, and tummy tuck procedures that will have you looking your best come June.
Summer
Because summer tends to be the most active time, fewer patients choose to do surgeries then. The hot summer weather is also not the ideal weather for quick healing if you’ll be spending a lot of time outside. There is, however, one significant exception: for those with summer vacation, these days off allow for plenty of time to recover from a procedure before returning to work. Quick, non-surgical procedures such as Botox or other tissue fillers are the perfect procedures for summer, because they can be done as an outpatient procedures and let you get on with summer fun.
Remember, these are general guidelines and everyone’s lifestyle and schedule are different—and you should by no means feel like you can only get the procedures done at these particular times. Have a discussion with your surgeon about when might be the best time for you to get the procedure done. Questions? Contact St. Charles Plastic Surgery today to set up a consultation.
