Wellness Trends to Watch in 2017

Wellness Trends to Watch in 2017

Are you ready for a healthier-than-ever 2017? Here area few wellness trends to watch for this year.

  1. Personalized Diets

Until now, diets have been made up of general guidelines that everyone should follow. But as technologies has made advances and we’ve learned that every human is different and metabolizes foods in a different way, it’s becoming more apparent that following the same diet may not be the right thing for everyone.

Now, a slew of websites such as DNAFit , Habit, and DayTwo take personal information from the customer and suggest a unique diet that they say will work well for someone with those particular physical characteristics.

  1. The Ketonic Diet

The Keto diet is effectively a high fat, low carb diet that forces the body to get most of its energy from fat. The name comes from the state of ketosis, which the body enters when it can’t derive ready calories from carbohydrates and must instead turn to dietary fat and the body’s own fat stores. The main difference between the Keto diet and other low-carb diets like Atkins is that the Keto diet restricts the amount of protein you can ingest, to keep fats as the main source of energy. The Keto diet has been rapidly increasing in popularity, and even Lebron James has relied on it.

  1. Infrared Saunas

The technology that’s used to keep newborns warm in the hospitals has now gone mainstream, and is replacing the sauna rooms in some spas. Infrared waves offer a warming sensation but actually don’t get as hot as a real sauna, enabling you to sweat more while also helping to ease muscle pain. Because of this increased effectiveness, they also allow you to get the same results as a traditional sauna in a much shorter time.

  1. Coconuts

Coconuts are already extremely popular with the health-conscious, with coconut milk, coconut water, and coconut oil all having a moment, but the fruit is only going to get bigger this year. Whole Foods now offers coconut flour and coconut sugar, both of which are advertised to offer a much healthier nutritional profile than and additional health benefits to their standard counterparts.

Trends always come and go, so it will be interesting if any of these are still around when 2018 rolls around. For now, we hope knowing about these may help you on your way to a healthier and better 2017!
