Have you ever heard someone say that the first thing they noticed about another person was their eyes? And have you ever wondered what your eyes say about you?
All sorts of judgments are made in the areas of age, health, and attractiveness with one glance at the eyes. A person’s eyes can sometimes tell an entire story about them. But other times, that person’s story can come across inaccurately due to the unfortunate effects of aging in the eye area.
In fact, there’s little that can age a person’s overall appearance faster than drooping or wrinkling around the eye area. Luckily, today these conditions can sometimes be remedied with the option of eyelid surgery. Eye lift surgery, which can reclaim a youthful appearance and increase attractiveness, generates considerable curiosity about what conditions it can repair and what the procedure involves.
If you’re one of those who shares this curiosity, you’re not alone!
Eyelid surgery, called a blepharoplasty, can be utilized by both men and women for cosmetic and functional purposes, repairing the upper eyelid, lower eyelid, or both. Blepharoplasty is best known for repairing sagging or drooping eyelids, a condition that can even impair vision in extreme cases.
However, eyelid surgery can also be used to eliminate puffiness around the eyes caused by a variety of culprits, including fatty deposits, bags under the eyes, and excess skin. In addition, fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes can be significantly reduced or completely remedied.
When it comes to eyelid surgery, two basic options exist – an Upper Blepharoplasty or a Lower Blepharoplasty (or a combination of both).
An Upper Blepharoplasty is used to correct drooping eyelids and to remove excess skin and fat above the eye. The surgery performed on the upper eyelid is accomplished through an incision made at the natural crease of the eyelid, therefore making it highly undetectable upon recovery.
A Lower Blepharoplasty is used to remove or reposition fatty deposits under the eye. Lower eyelid surgery involves an incision that in created at the lash line, and therefore excessive skin can also be removed during surgery and other procedures can simultaneously be performed, such as laser resurfacing or a chemical peel to smooth out the skin.
